There is a huge debate in the paranormal and scientific community on the subject matter when it comes to Orbs and the definition of what an Orb is or could be. As paranormal investigators we look at the evidence we collect and try to make sence of it and "put the pieces together". We would like to hear what you all think "Orbs" are and if they are useful in paranormal investigating as so called evidence. What's your take on the debate?

I personally believe that orbs are a natural ball of energy that occur whether or not paranormal activity is present. I think orbs are associated with paranormal activity because maybe these "ghosts" see them as an opportunity to collect energy to manifest. If that theory is correct....

i agree with rick...we know energy is always around us its what we do with it so why cant spirits do it as well... also as far as evidence it totally depends on the camera you are using some film cameras pre-digital do not pick it up at all where they might pick up mists or streams and the age of the film being used has a factor. even digital lens get damaged from light over the time of usage. im more rather interested in the ones we see with our own eyes and not so much as ones caught on cameras.

After the last case we conducted we all had a lot of "Personal" expieriences in one form or another. Myself and steve Kulls were seeing, Red Orbs with our own eyes. What this is i'm not sure of, but for me personaly adds another and different aspect to the orb theory in general to what would cause those orbs to be seen by the visible eyes and what they are/mean. Very interesting stuff to say the least=)

Orbs are....emotions. That people send out everywhere. Emotion is energy. Etc etc. They're not intelligent, but they're directable and useable by other energies. When they come together they make compound energy, and that is an EMF. The EMF is useable by intelligent energies and humans alike. And that, is what I think, from way out there on a limb.

Thats a GREAT look at that Amy and could be one of many things what obs could really be. If you stop to think abut it your thoery does hold a lot of potential!! Another great thing to consider and think about, but you may be onto something there as emotions are forms of energy and we are always releasing that energy into the universe. Very interesting take=) Great post and people keep the post coming!!

Ok, so with the recent discussion on orbology (not herbology), there really is a lot of evidence pointing to orbs and visible manifestations of energy like them as being a natural occurance of the Earth's processes. In other words, having nothing to do with spirit energy. (Then again isn't anything that occurs on Earth considered 'natural'? That's for another thread entirely though...). This would negate my previous statements to some degree, but only concerning the orbs that are captured on film (in the very very rare event that they are), not those which are seen with the naked eye. At the group meeting last night there was heavy consideration given to the differences in size, color and amount of orb activity, and what it could be that causes them. As Gary stated, these photographic artifacts, which have caused countless numbers of people to claim spirit activity was present at the time of the photo being taken, are an advent of the invention of digital cameras. That said, perhaps it has something to do with the way the digital cameras work. A digital camera converts light into an electrical charge, that's stored as digital data, rather than as an image on film. In that conversion process, a semiconductor is used. It may literally be somewhere in there, that the use of light to capture a scene and take a picture, is what is causing orbs to show up over and over again, exponentially. The resolution digital cameras work at is MASSIVE, this means the amount of light being converted can be so detailed as to pick up on anything reflective or refractive in the scene, therefore moreso than any camera that uses film. While orbs DO show up on film cameras, they might only do so more rarely due to the differences in the cameras. There is no semiconductor in a 35mm film camera, therefore the light being converted to an image is not going through a detailed and digital process in order to be seen in the final result. In lieu of last night's discussion at the group meeting, I'm starting to wonder if the simple process of converting photons to electrons (light to energy), combined with the highly sensitive lenses used to focus the image in a digital camera causing the reflection and refraction, are what are causing literally 99.99% of orbs to appear on digital camera sources. As far as seeing them with the naked eye? Well, wouldn't the same process of photons converting to electrons through the use of energy provided by, say, a human body, among other NATURAL sources, cause the same effect? The conversion would be in the stage before becoming energy, and within the visible light spectrum of the human eye. Then, the visible photons disappear when they become electrons. And, now that I've thoroughly warped my brain and possibly yours, I'll leave this to be marinated over.

several years ago I bought a digital camera they had just came out, which meant that we did not have to buy anymore film and that we had limitless pictures could be taken. we had spent two summers taking orb pictures when we came across a cemetery there was a huge orb that hovered over the cemetery at first we thought we had taken a pic of the moon after taking several pictures it discovered that we could see it. It tried to hide in a group of trees we kept following it taking pictures .then it started following us scared the hell out of us. we all went to the car and when I was turning the key to start the car a flesh of light went off inthe car the battery was dead we all jump out of the car and ran down the road . I got enough courage to go back for the car the car was dead so we walked to a phone and called for help we got the car started again the next night with a different car the same thing happened to the car and yes the big orb was out there in the same spot. I have gone to this cemetery several times I never get out of the car but I can still take pictures of the big orb It is still out there.
