Shaker Heritage Society, Colonie, NY
From the 18th Century to the middle of the 20th, the Shakers lived on this 770 acre property, having formed the very first Shaker settlement in the US. Their contributions to American society are many, and they were a profoundly progressive society for their time. Buildings on the property were later used as a Tuberculosis sanitorium & preventorium after the Shaker society dwindled to an unsustainable size. The Ann Lee Home, a large former nursing home, sits on the property now as well, but was not part of the original Shaker structures. Fortunately, it will be refurbished and put to good use. As the first paranormal team to investigate this property, we're hoping for some new insight and validation to the extensive history of the Shakers!
